Hydraulics in the service of primate research

At the Wolfgang Köhler Primate Research Centre, 53 great apes live in five indoor and five outdoor enclosures, with additional research and sleeping quarters. The access doors work hydraulically – thanks to technology from HANSA‑FLEX.

Technical expertise in hydraulics

Choosing the right hose, fittings and accessories

Whatever the industry or size of system, the following applies: Hydraulic hose lines must always be chosen and installed such that they function reliably and safely in all the foreseen applications and operating conditions.

Moving heavy loads with high-pressure hydraulics

Moving a ship weighing several tons into dry dock, lifting a huge crane or moving a monumental bridge - all with precise control and without losing your nerve. This is exactly what heavy-duty hydraulics is all about!

The training situation in the hydraulics sector

Hydraulic systems are very complex to control and downtimes are usually very costly. This results in a constantly increasing need for training for employees who are familiar with hydraulic systems or machines.

Have you recognised it?

The cover page of our current issue shows welding work on a hydraulic cylinder. This was part of a repair job carried out at our Königshofen branch. This location can repair not just the tiniest cylinders, but even cylinders weighing in at around 6 tonnes. Various welding techniques are used, depending on the nature of the damage.

Welding a new connection to a hydraulic cylinder.

1/3

The cylinders are repaired using personal protective equipment, and then subjected to a test.

2/3

The MAG (metal active gas) welding process is primarily used.
